Important: Location Luitpold Lab. This salon evening will take place at Luitpold Lab, on the first floor of the Palmengarten. Entrance to Cafe Luitpold, Palmengarten stairway.

At the end of 2025, Antonio Costa, president of the European Council sent a copy of Jean Monnet’s Memoirs to all EU leaders asking them to read three chapters pertaining to Jean Monnet’s action during the two world wars and as the architect of the defeated European Defense Community.  Jean Monnet’s grandson and Chair of the Jean Monnet Institute will introduce the panel with a keynote talk on the lessons of Monnet’s actions for today.  The panel will discuss options facing Europeans as they organise their common defense in a context of American withdrawal and growing external threats.
